Week Two Power Rankings and Predictions

With Week One of the new season in the bag, it is an honor to present the first official Power Rankings for the 2010-2011 FYC League.

WEEK TWO POWER RANKINGS

01. The Cyber Police (1-0)

Well, I didn't see this one coming, but that's the beauty of fantasy football - any given week can be your one shining moment. For The Cyber Police, I think they'll have more weeks like this in the near future. Led by RB Matt Forte and WR Wes Welker, the Justin Ferrari-owned team can make some serious moves around the league...at least until Welker gets hurt or Forte comes back down to Earth.

02. RingRing Hooka RingRing (1-0)

I struggled with this placement - any of four teams could be shuffled around, but I give Christina Ruud's team the Number Two spot because despite her top two RBs (Cedric Benson and Jonathan Stewart) not showing up, she still managed to beat arguably the best preseason team in the FYCL (Team McLaughlin). If those two can match production that they are known for, RRHRR could be in for a legendary season.

03. Brett Favre's Crocs (1-0)

Nick Votto, owner of Brett Favre's Crocs, is one to play the waiver wire and utilize his trading prowess. He wasted no time this year, setting up one blockbuster trade and acquiring potential trade-filler in WR Jerricho Cotchery - all within the first week. If Votto can smartly play the front office game, he could challenge the best teams in the league.

04. Beauty and the Miller (0-1)

Even in a loss, Beauty and the Miller looked like a team that could go all the way to the championship. Michael "Shaggy" Miller's team produced excellent, consistent numbers across all positions, which made for an even more heartbreaking loss when they all fell to Brett Favre's Crocs by one solitary point. If B&TM can shake off that Week One disappointment, expect them at the top of their division.

05. Team McLaughlin (0-1)

Just about every match in Week One was an exciting win for one side, and a close loss for the other. Team McLaughlin found themselves on the wrong side of that predicament, but even in loss, there is a silver lining. Glen McLaughlin's team played well - better than some teams that won last week. He's still got the best team in the league, in my honest opinion, and with RB Arian Foster on the rise, there is no reason he can't ascend to the win column this week.

06. One Team One Cup (1-0)

Last year's Cinderella story starts the season with a win. Heartwarming, sure, but it was a razor-edge success over Pauls Freudian Trip, so don't crown him too soon. The entire line played adequately but one has to wonder about 1T1C in the later matches as his bench is notoriously low on anything except a suspended QB Ben Roethlisberger. If he can move some of his players around a bit, perhaps he could make a serious run at the championship he was so close to getting last year.

07. Pauls Freudian Trip (0-1)

His best and brightest showed up to play last week. QB Drew Brees was adequate, RB Rashard Mendenhall overachieved - all in all, it was a okay performance that in most other matches would have been a win. But those high-risk/high-reward receivers failed to make an impact in their games. If owner Paul Votto wants to be contender, he needs to think seriously about bringing in a reliable and consistent WR because, so far, his risky core hasn't paid off. But there is still a lot of season for Votto to turn things around.

08. Rob's Team (1-0)

In an eight-team, high-scoring season in 2009, Rob's Team was the lone wolf that did beyond horrible. It was a forgettable season to say the least, but with a new set of regulations and teams, the shift to a bigger league may have benefited Rob's Team the most. Owner Rob Pakulski's squad is the deepest in the entire league, and if they can pull off another win this week against Flashin' The Big Ben, expect him to be in the top five teams...at least.

09. You Dun Goofed (1-0)

It's always odd to write these things about a team you own, but I'll be completely honest: that Week One win wasn't what I was really looking for to kick off the season. Taking QB Aaron Rodgers in the first round didn't seem to reward me in Week One, but hopefully that will change. Depth is a concern within You Dun Goofed, but if a miracle can happen this week over #3-ranked Brett Favre's Crocs, maybe upward movement can be achieved.

10. Flashin' The Big Ben (0-1)

WR Andre Johnson. RB LeSean McCoy. WR Dwayne Bowe. For a team with that caliber of players, it is shocking to see anything but a win. But Flashin' The Big Ben went up against #1 The Cyber Police in their first week in the league - can't really prevent a matchup like that. I believe that owner Charlie Tritschler is making some valuable moves in bringing on RB Fred Taylor, but his loss of RB Ryan Grant is something that will cost his team dearly. He's got a lot of good players not contributing, so maybe a trade of faith on the behalf of another owner could bring in a quality RB to replace Grant, giving FTBB a shot at the title.

11. Team Minch (0-1)

Team Minch has troubles, and he knows he does. If you have gone the entire week and not had a trade proposed to you by owner Alex Minch, you are in the minority. With a tenacious, all-or-nothing front office approach, Minch is trying to catch owners in bad deals but it appears that he's come out on the losing side of the only one that has been accepted. With a weak showing in Week One, and with his starting QB being Michael Vick in Week Two, expect a tough road for Minch against the well-rounded RingRing Hooka RingRing.

12. LaunchPad McQuack (0-1)

It is awful to put last year's champ at the bottom - but he did that all by his lonesome with that final score last week. He's got the stable of players, he's got the experience, so what happened? His big players decided to extend their preseason, and this cost owner Matt Ruud dearly. I don't expect for LPMQ to stay at the bottom for long - Ruud is not a fan of being a basement fantasy player - but for right now, he's the team that I have the least faith in for the early part of the season. A lot of hard matchups in store for his best players this week, and with going up against the solid Team McLaughlin, I don't expect LPMQ's first win in Week Two.
